Making even the basic of bonfires a bourgeois experience with a customized s’mores bar.
Bonfires are always a great time! I always enjoy a s’mores with good company and I can enjoy these all year round. Usually the same items are on the menu; Chocolates, marshmallows, graham crackers, maybe some hot chocolate. But how can we take the basic bonfire and make it bourgeois?
I started with some ideas for different vehicles to use rather than a graham cracker, and thought “What if we add cookies instead?”. I LOVE chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven so that was a no brainer. Sugar cookies can take on any flavor you add to them, so they were an instant yes too. After additional research and development (which really was just taste testing cookies and treats that went well with chocolate lol), I decided on Rice Krispies Treats as my final choice. These three paired with graham crackers would be the perfect vehicles, and I was READY!
Of course I wanted the signature Hershey’s milk chocolate, but it wouldn’t be a Bourgeois Bonfire if we didn’t include something #extra. I’m a huge fan of the Ghirardelli chocolate squares filled with caramel, and I’m always seeing them with different flavors and additives. It just so happened that there were three types that I picked up at random one day at Ross; dark cocoa, dark chocolate with sea salt and almonds (my fave!), and dark chocolate with sea salt and caramel. These three were right up my bourgeois alley, and were absolutely perfect for the aesthetic as well as the taste!
I got this amazing stand from IKEA, which was in the candle section (who knew?!), added the bowl and picture frame, and made the Bourgeois Bonfire menu myself.
This was such a success! The Ghirardelli chocolates really set this entire bonfire off, have you ever had dark chocolate on a s’more? Or a toasted marshmallow on a chocolate chip cookie? OMG ! Life changing!!!! Of course it helped that I was surrounded by great company too ☺️
